Engineering & Redesign

Our team has been involved in 3D printing since 1996. Over the years, we have developed a comprehensive knowledge of the necessary engineering required to produce parts suitable for demanding applications, including product development (design, calculations, FMEA) through to topology optimisation and beyond.

Additive Manufacturing

Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, is a manufacturing technique in which products are built up by successively adding and joining material layer by layer from model data. Our main focus is on the 3D printing of metal components.

Additive manufacturing (3D printing / additive manufacturing) enables new manufacturing options. For example, 3D printing can be used to produce a bone structure, hollow structures or structures that cannot be produced using conventional manufacturing technologies. This optimisation option is not possible with any other manufacturing process.
Materials available include: aluminium, cobalt chrome, bronze, titanium, inconel, tool steel and stainless steel.

HIP - Hot Isostatic Pressing

When components are treated with the Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) process - simultaneous application of elevated heat and pressure with an inert gas atmosphere - internal cavities and micro-porosities are eliminated through a combination of plastic deformation, flow and diffusion bonding of the material.

The HIP process is used to improve a wide range of products, including castings, additively manufactured parts, near net shape parts, ceramics, powder metallurgy, sintered and metal injection moulded parts

CNC Machining & Heat Treatment

With our pioneering CNC machining capabilities, we achieve high-quality surfaces and accurate dimensional tolerances. Complex 3D contours can be created quickly and precisely.

OWL Additive Manufacturing has detailed knowledge of the heat treatment processes that should be applied within the additive manufacturing process chain. Moreover, OWL Additive Manufacturing offers bespoke heat treatment processes developed to optimise the efficiency and reliability of the additive manufacturing value chain.

  • CNC milled parts for prototype construction as well as series production

Quality

Maintaining the highest quality requirements is our top priority in order to meet the demands of our customers.
